Harley Davidson Vintage Old School Biker Sterling Silver Ring and Cuff Set This is an old school, no frills sterling silver vintage biker jewelry set. A collection of my favorite “biker” jewelry pieces that I’ve collected over the many, many years. Each piece you see is vintage, each piece you see has a story, and each piece you see once adorned my fingers (or wrist) as I cruised down a country road on my beloved (also vintage) Harley Cruiser. One of the most difficult days in all my 79 years was the day when I realized I’d cranked up my old Harley for the last time… I had a mild spill (my wife would argue otherwise) and - well - I didn’t recover from that “spill” as I had many times in the past… because I love my wife, and because “happy wife = happy life,” I agreed to call it quits… While I know I will never part from my bike, I do know that it will remain in my garage… without a rider… The set you see here? My heavy sterling biker rings… my old school heavy gauge Harley Davidson solid silver cuff… I never imagined I would part with. Now, however - they no longer seem the right “fit” for me. These rings belong with someone actively riding… someone who can give them the continued time in the light on the open road that they truly deserve. Thus, a piece of my heart… much cherished biker adornments that hopefully (long after I am gone) will continue to live on with a new, caring, younger owner. This piece is made up of 5 rings, and one cuff. Everything you are looking at is heavy, solid silver except for that of the “Born Wild” Eagle Ring. This Harley Davidson release is sterling plated (though still very chunky, very heavy). In the description to follow I will go into each piece in a bit of detail (: Piece One and Two: Harley Davidson Motorcycles Heavy Silver Skull & Flame Pair (Solid Silver) I loved the style of this Harley Davidson solid silver vintage ensemble so much, that I went out and bought another! This is the quintessential classic “skull and flames” ring. Thick cut sterling silver, each ring weighs in at approximately 15 grams. Beautifully molded at the interior. The design of the ring is wide at the front, and tapers down in back at the band. The front bears a skull with piercing eyes - surrounded by a circular border that reads “Harley Davidson Motorcycles.” To the left and right of the skull, leaping flames. The flames, skull’s eyes, and border are black filled, making the highly radiant sterling silver truly POP! This ring pair was purchased from Harley Davidson in Daytona Beach, Florida in the early 2000s. One ring is a size 11, and the other, a size 12. Piece Three: HEAVY Solid Silver Day of the Dead “Ring of Skulls” Hand Formed Ring This is arguably one of my favorites when it comes to this set. The ring is just beautifully made… highly unique… masterfully composed. This ring showcases 9 solid silver and 3-Dimensional raised skulls stacked up upon one another. I ask that you take a minute and truly take the time to examine the above photographs of this skull ring… the detail is - truly - unparalleled. The expenditure of time that must have went into individually forming the mesmerizingly details skulls? No skull on this ring is alike, with each one varying in size or shape ever so slightly - an indicator of this ring’s handmade composition. The solid sterling silver on this ring is radiant as ever - bright, highly reflective, sure to SHINE when that natural light hits your ring cruising down the road. This ring weighs in at approximately 13 grams. Worth noting, if you allow this ring to do so, it will oxidize beautifully! If left unpolished for a long enough time, you’ll start to see a lovely black begin to fill in the eyes of each skull. I elected not to polish this piece up to a glistening shine - as I feel as though the natural oxidization serves to make what is already a spectacular piece all the more special. This ring is a size 10.5 to 10.75. This ring was purchased at a luxury boutique called Maxfield in Beverly Hills, California in the mid ‘80s. Piece Four: Harley Davidson Solid 70 GRAM Heavy Gauge Pebbled Biker Cuff *Note: before getting into the details on this cuff, I did want to make mention of the significance of this piece’s weight. If you are someone who prefers lightweight, more delicate jewelry, this is a definitely a piece that you will want to pass up. I enjoy heavy jewelry, but at 70 GRAMS of solid sterling silver, this is a piece that you will FEEL as it sits on top your wrist. My wife found this cuff to be far too heavy, and I know that others out there will as well. I encourage you to find something near 70 grams, set it on top your wrist, and ask yourself “can I tote this around on my wrist all day?” Ahhh… the Limited Edition Harley Davidson Logo Cuff in SOLID Heavy Gauge Pebbled Sterling Silver… This (simply put) a piece that you will not find up for grabs elsewhere. I highly encourage you to do your research, look around, and I promise you you will end up right back here! At 70 grams of sheer mass sterling silver, this is one of the heaviest works of sterling I’ve ever owned. Call me old fashioned, but when it comes to jewelry - I’ve always liked those pieces that FEEL their worth. These days, you pay arm and leg for a piece of sterling jewelry only to find that it has a weight that barely registers in the palm of your hand… something that feels more like shoddy tin, than sterling silver. Well, one thing is sure - this cuff is one ludicrously weighty chunk of semi precious metal! I LOVED this piece…. Man… there is something about its weight that just makes you feel - powerful! This was my “good luck” charm. Any long road trip, and my wife would always ask “you got your cuff on?” Aside from weight, the design is stunning. The front bears slightly raised “pebbles” of sterling silver - each hand laid and hand soldered - on (of course) a solid silver background. This piece is solid silver through and through. The way that the “pebbles” are designed means that this cuff THROWS light off its surface. Highly reflective is an understatement. At the very center of this cuff, a LARGE Harley Davidson logo - THICK and raised from the cuffs center in 3-Dimensional form. The inside of the cuff is high polish, gleaming, smooth sterling silver. At the center, the following text engraved: 925 MOD” there are two symbols identifying this piece as a Harley Davidson make off to the right. This cuff is adjustable. Big wrist, small wrist - there shouldn’t be any problems here! The cuff was purchased from Harley Davidson in Daytona, Florida in the early 2000s. Piece Five: Heavy Hawaiian Made Tribal Scrolls THICK CUT Solid Sterling Ring Alright… this may seem corny, but this one of one artisan made Hawaiian tribal ring was made to match my tat! This ring was purchased in 1998 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The ring was made by a locally famous Samoan Hawaiian who ran a jewelry boutique called “Modern Treasure.” This ring is a total custom make - the dude quite literally snapped some photos of my tattoo (which runs up the underside of my left forearm) and made a ring keeping in theme. Out of all in this set, this ring is perhaps the most exquisitely made. Even the INSIDE of this ring is magnificent… This HEFTY chunk of sterling weighs in at a very impressive 26 GRAMS! Again I stress, if you are someone not accustomed to heavy jewelry - this may be a piece you want to pass up. The design runs across the entirety of the ring’s front and sides, with just a small space at the back of the band remaining blank silver. The tribal design actually BOWS OUT from the ring’s front! The silver is so thick, that the upper portion of the ring’s band was made chunkier to match the sheer mass of the tribal array. Look closely at the detail that went into creating the design. I could sit here and try and describe that detail all day, but would fall short of truly capturing all that this piece is! The ring is stamped on the inside (back of band) 925, and bears the artist’s signature (an all seeing eye). On the inside front of the ring, etched into the silver the ring’s date of creation: “ 1998.” This ring - custom made to order - was NOT an inexpensive purchase. Truth be told? This is the most expensive sterling ring I own… beautiful, but man… I guess the saying is true: “you get what you pay for.” This ring is about a size 10. 26 GRAMS in weight. Piece Six: Vintage “Born Wild” Harley Davidson Eagle’s Head Hand Tooled Ring Thick Sterling Plate Ring. ~Note: This is a ring that I debated for a while as to whether or not to include in this set. It is the only piece of the 6 piece set that is not soldi silver, but rather thick sterling plate. This one is considered a “freebie,” as it is not factored into the price of the set. That said, I love the piece… the sterling plate (through all the years) has maintained perfectly… no wearing… no dulling… again, back in the day sterling plate was done very THICK - made to last. This ring weighs in at 22 grams, making it a hefty little piece. The design is beautifully detailed, with a large eagle’s head front and center. The depiction of the eagle is truly beautifully done here. Highly detailed, with one able to make out the detail in each and every feather. Those angry eyes, and menacing beak give this eagle a ferocious, aggressive look. On one side of the ring, thick raised, bold text reading “BORN WILD.” Thick chunky piece - have always loved the weight of this piece resting on the finger. Size 9.25 to 9.5 Parting Note: So there you have it… my much loved treasures. It is going to be a bittersweet day when this set ships out - the final nail in the coffin when it comes to my “riding days.” That said, my hope is that this set goes off to someone younger than I… someone still riding… someone still a bit “wild.” “Born Wild,” well - I was… but age has a way to taming the untamable. If you buy this set, remember the old man as you cruise down some stretch of sun soaked roadway looking down at the hefty silver adorning your fingers and wrist! ~If you have any further questions, or would like to see any additional photos, please do not hesitate to reach out in the form of an email. I will get back to you promptly. Will ship overseas, but not responsible for any customs fees that might be incurred. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
